DRY ICE BLASTING
ABC provides specialist dry ice blasting services for precision cleaning within the energy and industrial sectors, including gas turbines, power station generators, and associated mechanical components. This advanced cleaning method allows effective contaminant removal without abrasive damage, moisture introduction, or secondary waste generation.
Dry ice blasting works by accelerating solid CO2 pellets using compressed air through a controlled nozzle system. Upon impact with the surface, three simultaneous effects occur:
Kinetic Energy Impact
The pellets strike the surface at high velocity, dislodging surface contaminants such as oil, grease, carbon deposits, and loose residues.
Thermal Shock Effect
The extremely low temperature of the dry ice (-78.5°C) causes contaminants to contract and lose adhesion from the substrate.
Sublimation Expansion
On impact, the dry ice instantly converts from solid to gas (sublimates), expanding rapidly and lifting contaminants away from the surface without leaving blasting media behind.
Because the CO2 pellets sublimate completely, there is no secondary abrasive waste to clean up. Only the removed contamination remains, significantly reducing post cleaning time and environmental impact.
Our dry ice blasting services are particularly suited to:
- Gas turbine cleaning
- Power station generators and electrical components
- In-situ cleaning during outages
- Component cleaning where abrasive media cannot be used
- Oil, grease, and carbon deposit removal
Dry ice blasting is non-abrasive and non-conductive, making it ideal for sensitive electrical systems and rotating equipment. It allows cleaning to be carried out with minimal dismantling, reducing downtime and improving outage efficiency.
All dry ice blasting operations are conducted by highly trained personnel using controlled equipment and defined procedures to ensure safe, precise, and repeatable results across critical energy infrastructure projects.
ISO ACCREDITED
We are ISO certified and operate with consistent processes and checks so you can rely on repeatable results across jobs, teams, and locations.
